Cavendish wins Milan-San Remo
My old York MTB buddy Ross Peat just emailed me this fuzzy vid of Mark Cavendish winning the Milan-San Remo race on 21 March.
Dubbed ‘La Classicissima’ (Classic of Classics) by the Italians, the Milan-San Remo is the longest professional one-day race at 298km. By all accounts it’s a sprinter’s race, the climbs being fairly mild by some Classic standards. Eddy Merckx won it 7 times, Erik Zabel 4 times, Petacchi and Cipollini had one apiece, and Tom Simpson won it in 1964.
